CBS4 ‘FUTURE LEADERS’

CONTEST RULES

 

 

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win.  A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. The contest is void where prohibited by law.

 

 

1.        How to Enter the Contest:

 

(a)      The CBS4 FUTURE LEADERS contest will begin on Monday, September 16th, 2019 and end on Friday, April 17, 2020.  Contest is sponsored by Colorado School of Mines and PDC Energy.

 

(b)      To participate in the contest viewers can enter online at www.cbsdenver.com/futureleaders. Viewers must fill out an online electronic registration form with complete name, address, phone number, birth date, email address, and the essay entry submission field describing why they or someone they know should be nominated to be profiled on broadcast television within the CBS4 Future Leaders program. Viewers will be asked to submit an essay in 250 - 500 words describing why they would like to nominate themselves or someone they know to win a featured spot in the CBS4 Future Leaders television campaign. The submission window will take place from 9/16/19– 4/16/20. During this rolling submission period, viewers will be able to access and fill out the online registration nomination form. Once a month a judging panel comprised of CBS4, Colorado School of Mines and PDC Energy representatives will review all eligible submissions and select one (1) student to be featured within the next month’s CBS4 Future Leaders television campaign. Selected students will be notified by phone and/or email on or about the 1st day of every month. Any eligible nomination received during the submission window from 9/16/19– 4/16/20 can be selected as a monthly winner during the duration of the CBS4 Future Leaders television campaign.

 

(c)      One entry per person.

 

(d)      Entries will not be acknowledged. CBS4 will not accept phone calls concerning this Contest. Contest sponsors are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, mangled, misdirected, incomplete, or illegible entries.  Sponsor is not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access any Web site or on-line service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual electronic tampering with the Contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the judges reserve the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at www.CBSDenver.com. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or website or violates the Official Rules of the Contest.

 

              By use of this website and by entering the Contest, you agree to the Station’s Web Site Terms of Use Agreement and to the use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy located at: “www.CBSDenver.com”.

(e)      Broadcasts are subject to preemptions and scheduling changes. If such changes occur they will be posted on the KCNC-TV website.

Entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses, or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. No mechanically reproduced entries accepted.

 

(f)           Odds of winning depend on specific judging criteria determined by the contest sponsors.

 

2.        Eligibility Restrictions:

 

(a)             The contest is open to CO residents who are 15 years of age or older (minors must have permission of a parent or legal guardian).  Employees of KCNC-TV, CBS Corporation, Colorado School of Mines, other television and radio stations in the Denver market, and their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members and persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win.

 

(b)      Viewers are eligible to win a KCNC contest only once every sixty days.  Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest. Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months.

 

(c)      All entries become the sole property of Station and will not be returned.  By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.

 

(d)     Contestants are required to provide truthful information and the Station will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent.  The Station will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and the Station will also delete any entry received from persons under the age of 15.

 

(e)     Winners must be willing to allow their likeness and story to be used in a promotional campaign surrounding this contest. Winners must be willing to allow CBS4 and Colorado School of Mines representatives to come to their home or school to film the process of the student working in their nominated area of study. Winners must be willing to allow CBS4 and Colorado School of Mines representatives to take still photos and moving video footage of their learning space. These materials will be used for CBS4 future marketing purposes.

 

3.        Prizes: Eight (8) Prize Winners

 

(a)             Prize includes the following: Custom 30-second television announcement profiling student and student’s area of study. Television announcement will prominently feature winner’s name, likeness and their work.  The prize will also include a $1000 cash award.

                                                                   

Total prize is valued at $1,000. Eight (8) prize winners will be selected.

          

(b)      Prize can only be won after the 1st of every month from 10/01/19– 5/1/20.

 

Prize does not include items not specified.

 

(c)      All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of KCNC-TV, 1044 Lincoln Street, Denver, CO 80203.  Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within two (2) days of notification will be forfeited by the winner.  In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its arrival.  KCNC is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. 

 

(d)      Contest prizes are not transferable.  Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash.  Station reserves the right to substitute prize of comparable value.

 

4.        Selection of Winners:

 

(a)      Decisions of contest sponsors with respect to the contest are final. Should selected winner not allow CBS4 and/or Colorado School of Mines representatives to feature winner's name, biographical information, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, winner will be disqualified.

 

(b)             A total of eight (8) prize winners will be selected by specific judging criteria from all online eligible entries on or about the 1st day of every month from 10/1/19 – 05/01/20 at approximately 10:00am:

 

(c)             CONTEST JUDGING CRITERIA: TOTAL WEIGHT: 100%

                                                                       i.      Focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) studies: WEIGHT 80% - explain why this student is a future STEM leader.

                                                                     ii.      Supplemental Materials 10% - Include any photos or videos to support the nomination.

 

                                                                   iii.      Additional considerations 10%:  Explain any extraordinary circumstances/obstacles the student has had to overcome in order to pursue his/her STEM studies.  How would the $1,000 award be used to further the student’s STEM studies?

(d)             Winners will be notified by phone and/or email.

 

(e)      Winners need not watch/listen or be present to win.

 

5.        Conditions:

 

(a)      Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from Station.

 

(b)      By participating in the contest, the winners agree to have their name, biographical information, voice, or likeness used in any editorial, advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize.  If a prizewinner is a minor, prize may be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian.  By accepting the prize, each winner grants to Station and Sponsor the right to use the winner's name, biographical information, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of editorial, advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law).  All expenses on receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of winner.  Winners, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release CBS, Colorado School of Mines, their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.

 

 

6.        Contest sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the contest which will become effective upon announcement. 

 

7.         Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.

 

8.        Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification.
